Breast Diseases

  • Benign breast lesions: We assess and treat benign breast lesions, including cysts, fibroadenomas and other findings detected on imaging. Where necessary, we surgically remove benign lesions while preserving the natural shape of the breast whenever possible.

  • Mastitis and breast infections: Mastitis and other breast infections can cause pain, swelling, redness or fever. At Clínica Prat, we diagnose and treat mastitis and breast infections, recommending the most appropriate option for each patient.

  • Breast pain or mastalgia: Mastalgia, also known as mastodynia, is breast pain that may arise from hormonal changes, inflammation, benign conditions or previous surgery. We carry out a medical assessment to identify the cause and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

  • Nipple discharge, bloody discharge and galactorrhoea: Nipple discharge should be assessed, particularly when it occurs spontaneously, affects only one breast or contains blood. We treat nipple discharge, bloody discharge and galactorrhoea, determining whether monitoring, further investigations or specific treatment is needed.

Breast Cancer

  • Breast Cancer Prevention and Screening: We provide breast cancer prevention and screening programmes, including mammography and other diagnostic tests, to help detect breast cancer at its earliest stages.

  • Personalised Breast Cancer Risk Assessment: We assess genetic, family history and lifestyle factors to identify patients who may be at increased risk of developing breast cancer and provide a personalised follow-up plan.

  • Breast Cancer Surgery: We offer a range of surgical treatments, from breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy) and mastectomy to oncoplastic surgery, combining tumour removal with techniques designed to preserve the appearance and shape of the breast.

  • Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy: We perform sentinel lymph node biopsies to determine whether breast cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, providing essential information for staging and treatment planning.

  • Axillary Lymph Node Dissection: When clinically indicated, we perform axillary lymph node dissection to remove affected lymph nodes as part of the surgical management of breast cancer.

  • Breast Reconstruction: Following mastectomy, we offer breast reconstruction techniques aimed at restoring the shape and appearance of the breast and helping patients regain confidence and well-being.

  • Contralateral Breast Symmetrisation: When breast cancer surgery affects the shape or size of one breast, we offer procedures on the unaffected breast to achieve improved symmetry and a balanced appearance.

  • Nipple and Areola Reconstruction: We offer nipple and areola reconstruction to restore a more natural breast appearance following breast cancer surgery.

  • Breast Cancer Follow-Up: We provide comprehensive follow-up care for patients who have undergone breast cancer treatment, focusing on the early detection of recurrence and the management of any postoperative or treatment-related complications.

  • Assessment of Complications Following Previous Surgery: We assess and treat complications arising from previous breast cancer surgery, providing individualised care tailored to each patient’s needs.

Reconstructive Surgery

  • Oncoplastic breast surgery: Oncoplastic breast surgery combines cancer surgery with breast reshaping techniques. Where appropriate, it allows the lesion to be removed while maintaining a more balanced breast shape.

  • Breast reconstruction after mastectomy: Breast reconstruction after mastectomy aims to restore the shape of the breast following cancer surgery. We assess each case to recommend the most suitable technique and support the patient throughout the process.

  • Breast symmetrisation: Breast symmetrisation helps improve the balance between the breasts after cancer or reconstructive surgery. It may involve reducing, lifting or reshaping the opposite breast.

  • Breast reconstruction: Breast reconstruction may be performed after a mastectomy or following previous operations that have altered the shape of the breast. Treatment is planned individually, taking into account each patient's anatomy, medical history and needs.

  • Nipple and areola reconstruction: Reconstruction of the nipple and areola can complete the reconstructive process after a mastectomy. Its aim is to improve the final result and achieve a more natural appearance.

  • Breast augmentation: Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, enhances breast volume and shape using implants. The implant and surgical technique are selected individually to achieve a proportionate result.

  • Breast reduction: Breast reduction, or reduction mammoplasty, is indicated when breast volume causes physical symptoms or discomfort. This operation reduces breast size, improves breast shape and relieves symptoms associated with excess breast weight.

  • Breast lift or mastopexy: A breast lift, or mastopexy, corrects sagging and improves breast position. It can be performed with or without implants, depending on the existing breast volume and the desired result.

  • Breast implant replacement: Breast implant replacement allows old, ruptured or displaced implants, or implants associated with discomfort, to be replaced. We also assess capsular contracture, asymmetry and unsatisfactory results from previous surgery.

  • Assessment of Complications Following Previous Surgery: We assess and treat complications arising from previous breast cancer surgery, providing individualised care tailored to each patient’s needs.
